Where should wind turbines be situated?

As part of the research process Centric Theatre traveled to different communities to speak to them about how they have been affected and continue to be affected by wind turbines invading their local area. This proved to be quite interesting and some of the responses were unexpected. We would like to thank you those that were willing to take their time out to tell their stories and share their thoughts with use.

I have personally spoke to a number of people about wind turbines and asked where they felt they should be situated, majority agree that off shore wind turbines are a really good way of reducing impact on landscape. It was clear that most people felt that onshore wind turbines pose to be more of a threat to our land. On the other hand some said that they had quite an ignorant view on it all because they grew up in the city environment and therefore the site of the wind turbines did not have such a dramatic impact on them. Finally others found that the ‘Giants on the Hill’ were rather beautiful and fascinating to look at. I suppose we all have difference of opinions but regardless it has galvanized communities to have a collective voice and say actually ‘we really want this ‘ or ‘we really don’t want this’. It is wonderful to see communities coming together to voice their opinions, I am looking forward to hearing the response of the audience and seeing what parts within the play will receive a familiar sound of agreement.
